- Description: Training provided. The Fertilizer Technician must have a positive can-do work ethic, be an eager learner, be conscious of safety requirements, work effectively as a team member, dress appropriately, and be punctual.
- Reports To: The Fertilizer Technician reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor
- Skillset & Education Requirements: The Fertilizer Technician must possess the following skill set and educational background.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
- A clean driver’s license and be insurable on the company’s insurance policy
- Legal documentation to verify employment eligibility
- Physically able to handle the workload of a Fertilizer Technician and have a full range of mobility in the upper and lower body
- Able to lift 50 pounds without assistance
- Reliable transportation to and from work
- Must acquire and maintain RT Certification (Company Assistance Provided)
- Must work to acquire 3A and 3B Certification (Company Assistance Provided)
- Able to interact with customers professionally and courteously on a daily basis
- Responsibilities (* To be able to perform within 120 days of hire date):
- Thoroughly understands and complies with company policy and safety manual
- Properly and safely operates fertilizer spreading equipment
- Able to perform all daily preventative maintenance (PM) on company equipment
- Load and unload trucks safely
- Works safely and reports any / all unsafe conditions to supervisors
- Reports to work on time
- Follows all instructions from supervisor(s) promptly and efficiently
- Is a willing learner who seeks to master the basic skills of all functions of the company
- Reports to work in a clean and appropriate uniform wearing the appropriate boots
- Able to communicate with supervisor on a timely and thorough manner
- Completes assigned tasks efficiently, thoroughly, and per company production rates
- Ensures that all safety procedures are followed and reports any unsafe conditions to the supervisor
- Look for extras and up-sales
- Ensures all work orders are processed correctly
- Interfaces with the Manager to ensure on-hand inventory of job materials is adequate
- Maintain a clean crew truck at all times
- Able to train a novice lawn care assistant
- Able to work with minimal supervision from Maintenance Manager, but knows when to ask for assistance
- Salary: $18.00 – $25.00 per hour
- Appraisal Criteria: The primary appraisal criteria for the Fertilizer Technician is to show up on time in the proper clean uniform, work hard, and within 120 days learn the skills identified above necessary to properly and safely operate fertilizing equipment to meet company production rates.
